Mental Happiness
Updated: Sep 25, 2020
The saying "money can't buy happiness" needs to be firmly implemented in our minds. Yes, money takes us places, allows us to live luxurious lives, experience the best of the best etc. but
the way to health, harmony and happiness is primarily mental. The ultimate source of my mental happiness is my peace of mind (reaching nirvana if you may), nothing can destroy this except my own anger.
Your happiness is yours and yours alone - do not burden another with the responsibility of creating and maintaining your happiness. To reach and maintain mental happiness within our minds, creates open pathways and peace in our lives, it automatically gives way to new opportunities and avenues to explore.
By now, you've probably read and vaguely understood the term "mental happiness" although haven't quite yet gotten a grip on the spiritual enlightenment that the word derives from. By thought the word "mental happiness" is used to define your spiritual closure and success. Your mental happiness refers to the triumph one has in matters regarding their cognitive health. In my books, mental happiness is key to success - without an intellectually humane functioning of the brain, the expedient of both materialistic successes and spiritual success are cut short. In order to live life to the fullest, we need to care for and nurture our souls.
I'm sure you may be fond with the term "mental health", now in comparison with "mental happiness" it may differ ever so slightly, this is because your mental health focuses on the conservation of a fit mind free of any mental illness, whereas your mental happiness emphasizes the state of Eudaimonia - for those who don't know, Eudaimonia is a Greek word used to describe the contentment of being healthy and happy. In moral philosophy, Eudaimonia is used to refer to the right actions as those that result in the well-being of an individual. As important as it is to keep your health functioning normally, your "mental happiness" can be seen as a technique to achieve happiness - something that in my eyes, regulates success (which in human nature is something we all crave for).
According to Maslows Hierarchy of Needs (a five-tier world-known clarification on Human needs) Self-actualization is situated right on the top of the pyramid, and as a way to reaching mental happiness self-actualization is a start, realizing personal potential, self-fulfillment, seeking personal growth and peak experiences all stimulate mental happiness. In the words of Maslow himself, it refers to a desire “to become everything one is capable of becoming”
Often when we win an award or get a raise, our spirit immediately lightens and emits happiness - this feeling sparks the beauty of nourishing your mental happiness.
I leave you with the following words, in which I hope you implement in your daily lifestyle, "Happiness is not something we postpone for the future, it is something we design for the present."
